Nieuwsblad, Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Belang van Limburg are joining forces with Voetbal Vlaanderen to bring First Division Voetbal Vlaanderen, the highest amateur football league in Flanders, closer to supporters. Through new video formats, match highlights, analysis and stories from on and off the pitch, the competition will gain increased visibility across the platforms of the three news brands.
Amateur football plays an important role in local communities throughout Flanders. Behind every match are stories of players, volunteers, supporters and clubs that bring people together and strengthen community ties. Through this collaboration, the three news brands aim to give these stories a larger stage and enhance engagement with the competition.
The partnership reflects Mediahuis' ambition to invest in video and digital storytelling around topics that resonate with large audiences. It also demonstrates how the strong regional roots of our news brands can be combined with innovative journalistic formats to bring relevant stories even closer to readers and viewers.
"Amateur football is alive in every municipality and every province. Behind every match is a story about players, volunteers, supporters and clubs that play an important role in their communities. Through our strong regional brands Nieuwsblad, Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Belang van Limburg, we want to tell those stories more often and in more engaging ways. By doing so, we hope to inspire even more football fans to discover amateur football," says Jan Feys, Editorial Manager at Mediahuis België.
The new season kicks off this weekend.
From 31 August onwards, supporters will be able to access an extensive range of video content and editorial coverage around First Division Voetbal Vlaanderen through the platforms of Nieuwsblad, Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Belang van Limburg.
