Mediahuis is now bringing together its entire audio offering under one name: LUISTER. This applies to the content from Nieuwsblad, De Standaard and Het Belang van Limburg. Podcasts, audio articles, narrated stories and exclusive series from Nieuwsblad, De Standaard, Het Belang van Limburg and Gazet van Antwerpen will now all be available in one recognisable environment in each app.
In 2017, Mediahuis was already pioneering with DS Audio, and in the years that followed, podcasts became an increasingly important part of the editorial offering of Mediahuis newspapers. Today, Mediahuis Belgium produces more than 120 new podcast episodes each month, featuring strong brands such as DS Vandaag, Stemmen van Assisen, Het Punt van Van Impe, Van Moord tot Verdict, Bits & Atomen and Ongefilterd Moederschap (Audiohuis). Each month, Mediahuis podcasts generate more than 2 million unique downloads and streams. And now, the company is taking things one step further.
“LUISTER is much more than a podcast environment,” says Dries Vereecke, Marketing Director at Mediahuis. “We offer top‑quality journalistic audio, curated audiobooks, audio articles and unique series, some of which are reserved for subscribers. With LUISTER, we want to highlight the added journalistic value of our newsrooms. Quality comes first, but quantity matters too: subscribers of one title gain access to all (audio) content across our other news brands.”
For LUISTER’s visual identity, Mediahuis partnered with LDV United, tasked with creating a unifying style that still respects the individuality of each brand. The result is a fresh, colourful campaign that puts the authenticity of the podcast makers behind Mediahuis’ news titles front and centre.
The LUISTER campaign is being rolled out widely via TV, radio, social media, OOH, digital banners and eye‑catching tram and bus wraps. For the first time in Flanders, the campaign also uses OOH with sound showers at three locations, allowing passers‑by in the immediate vicinity of the OOH displays to hear the LUISTER campaign.
You can discover the new LUISTER environment in the apps of all four of our news brands.
