The new CIM figures show that in 2022, around 4.2 million Belgians will consume a news brand every day, of which about half will opt for a Mediahuis brand. With just over 1.9 million newspaper readers, Mediahuis remains the largest newspaper publisher in Flanders with De Standaard, Nieuwsblad, Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Belang van Limburg. The paper newspapers and their digital display reach one out of three Flemings every day.

De Standaard remains the largest quality newspaper

With a loyal readership, De Standaard remains the market leader and can once again call itself the largest news brand among quality newspapers. Every day, De Standaard reaches around 457,200 readers via the newspaper and digitally.

Het Belang van Limburg is read daily by around 370,700 consumers, reaching more than one out two Limburgers every week.

Gazet van Antwerpen remains the largest newspaper title in the province of Antwerp with a daily reach of 370,900.

Together with Nieuwsblad, both regional news brands account for a reach of 1,595,000 readers or 69% within the broad audience segment.

Billie, De Standaard Magazine and DS Weekblad are also rising

Billie appears every Saturday at Nieuwsblad, Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Belang van Limburg, and with its 729,200 readers it is by far the largest lifestyle newspaper magazine in Flanders. De Standaard Magazine and DS Weekblad remain the most popular quality supplements and can count on 410,600 and 423,800 readers respectively every week.
