Media United for Love United
During the 15th edition of the Antwerp Pride, the major Flemish media groups unite to explicitly support the LGBTQIA+ community. That is why on 13 August, numerous screen faces, voices and employees will participate in the parade through the city of Antwerp.
From 10 to 14 August, Antwerp will be the setting for the famous Antwerp Pride. After two light editions due to the corona pandemic, the famous Pride celebrates its 15th anniversary with a banging note. The city will then experience the culmination of Queertopia, a unique future project to which every voice from the LGBTQIA+ colour palette – and beyond – can make a unique contribution.
That voice will be reinforced this year by the major media groups of Flanders. In the spirit of ‘Love United’, VRT, DPG Media, SBS Belgium, Mediahuis and OUTtv celebrate the Antwerp Pride together. On Saturday 13 August, a lot of employees, voices and faces will take part in the dazzling parade in the heart of Antwerp. As a unanimous vote, they support the Queertopia. Antwerp Pride is a celebration of unity, so there will be nothing but love between the media of our country.
Media CEOs Jeroen Bronselaer (SBS), Frederik Delaplace (VRT), Koen Verwee (Mediahuis), Kris Vervaet (DPG Media) and Marc Putman (OUTtv) sound united: “Although it should be self-evident today that everyone can freely choose when it comes to love, faith, identity and sexuality, we want to explicitly express our support for diversity, equality and inclusion. Together with the Antwerp Pride, we embrace all people. We are already trying to reflect this warm, inclusive and positive society today: both in front of and behind the scenes. There is still work to be done, but it is our sincere ambition to always give a voice to all people, regardless of rank, position or belief and with respect for every talent. That doesn’t feel like an obligation, but it does feel like an incredibly beautiful privilege.”
